Eurosceptics, the Conservatives, Liberals and some Socialists announced their intention to dismiss next Monday (07.04.2014) the delegated acts proposed by the European Commission for the implementation of the reform CAP voted in 2013 in the Committee on Agriculture of the European Parliament .

José Bové, Vice -President of the Agriculture Committee of the European Parliament found that :

The only arguments of this conservative coalition are about too much bureaucracy and too much power to the European Commission. In reality, these are the amendments that they have submitted and voted throughout the co-decision process with the support of some States. This is the process that has led to an empty reform with a complexity that they now complain about. The truth is that this conservative coalition wants to finish killing the CAP-Reform by eliminating the little that is left of the « greening » of the CAP : the basic agro-ecological conditionality of direct aid and guidance to agro-biodiversity proposed at the start of the discussions.

These are the same people who want to oppose the tools that give more leeway to Member States and enable both the preservation of biodiversity and increase in local distribution, in rural development.

The Conservatives want to maintain at all cost the industrial agriculture with increasing monocultures, pesticides and GMOs, intensive livestock doped with antibiotics and, thus, ultimately less animal welfare, biodiversity cultivated product quality agricultural offered to consumers.

We will not participate in this ultimate diversionary tactic against the necessity to adapt agricultural practices to the destructive effects of climate change. »
